Description. The ISU-122S was an improved design (rather than a separate variant) of the ISU-122 assault gun used by the Soviets during World War II, mostly in the anti-tank role. A semi-automatic breech block was fitted to the original 122 mm A-19S tank gun. The tank gun with this new design was designated as the 122 mm D-25S.

The ISU 122's aren't terrible. You definately don't want to meet Ferdis or Royal Tigers face-to-face. Great reverse if you need to run away but a pain the ass to maneuver whether spaded or not.. Isu-122 with a sport mode that's always on. Sounds like my civic. It wouldn't be in a folder and needed to be researched now if it wouldn't be better than a regular ISU-122. Putting it out of the folder isn't the best because it removes this choice of getting a better version of your tank or a new one.

I love playing the ISU-122/S/152 tbh, because people tend to either ignore you, or see you as a free kill and blindly charge. Have had a few 6-9 kill games in SB using the 152.

It havent AT capabilities (or AP shells), except indeed a very close range combat, when HE shells can blow up a turret of a german armor. But such close distance i guess it is in theory because SU-122 was suporting by T-34-85 or SU-76 (early) and this was stand behind of tanks in real combat.
